With SkipIt, you eliminate wasteful spending since you don’t pay to reach consumers that don’t want to watch your ads. When a video ad plays on any SkipIt-integrated publisher site, a SkipIt invite in the top left corner of the ad asks the consumer if they would like to skip the ad. SkipIt users can choose to skip or watch the video ad – paying 10 cents to skip or engaging with the client’s brand in a variety of relevant ways (redeeming an offer, answering a survey, downloading a coupon, etc.).
Over time you’ll have much deeper insight into those consumers who skipped and those who watched your ads. You can adjust creative and tactics to get the best performance possible for your ad dollars.
How does it work for the consumer?
When a video ad plays on any SkipIt publisher partner site, SkipIt displays an invite in the top left corner of the ad asking if the consumer wants to skip the ad. If they are existing SkipIt customers and logged in, they can skip just by clicking the SkipIt invite, at which point their account is debited a small fee.
If they are not existing SkipIt customers or are not logged in, clicking on the invite pauses the ad and the invite expands allowing them to sign up or sign in directly by using Facebook, Twitter or Google. Once consumers have a SkipIt account, they have the choice and control to skip online video ads when they want to, wherever the SkipIt invite appears.
How do I get credited for skipped ads?
Consumers pay for the option to skip video ads on SkipIt sites, keeping their experience ad-free if they'd like. If they want to watch video ads, they have that option too.
Your publisher will ensure you don’t pay for ads that are skipped. SpotXchange gives publishers certified with SkipIt the tools to track skipped ads so they can provide the appropriate credits to all advertisers, ad networks or DSPs that had an ad skipped.
SkipIt Publishers are provided with reports that will summarize skipped ad information. Publishers share this information with you, their advertisers as a detailed summary of ads that have been skipped. Publishers can credit you, or overdeliver on your campaign. This choice for crediting or overdelivering is up to you and your publisher.
Does this work on interactive ads?
Yes, SkipIt will accommodate any video placement, including traditional pre-roll as well as interactive units.
Can I work with SkipIt to reach customers in other ways?
Yes. SkipIt provides a unique alternative for consumers who wish to skip ads but would rather not pay to do so. As a result, you will have an opportunity to create relevant offers for consumers. In exchange for taking advantage of one or more of these offers, consumers can earn a series of skips. A consumer might be asked to complete a survey, download a coupon, view a piece of branded long-form content, like your brand on Facebook, or take action on any number of other relevant offers – each one earning them skips for later use.
